Sometimes folks are concerned about such things and ask if bushing changes will make the ride harsh or noisy.
Answer: Not at all that anyone has noticed. Low profile tires, stiffer springs, stiffer shocks and higher tire pressures can telegraph more road noise through the suspension. Harder bushings will not. The control arm bushings do not transmit road vibrations up through the strut. The strut feels the wheel born vibrations via the ball joint which is a solid transmitter. The control arm bushings and steering rack bushings simply are not in the game at all. The vertical loads go through the springs and thrust bearings. The rubber spring seat provides some isolation. Some dynamic loads (AC) are transmitted to the rubber bushing via the shock's piston rod and further isolated by the rubber of the upper mount. Dead weight loads (DC) are transmitted through the bearings. Saab went nuts with rubber isolation and hollow oil filled (aka hydraulic) bushings. These vehicles have good steering geometry that performs very well if the rubber/blubber is reduced or eliminated. The steering rack was originally a fat aluminum cast body. In 1995.5 it was replaced with a small diameter steel unit. The clamping hardware was not changed. The original thin rubber mounting bushing was replaced with a thicker one that allows the steering rack to float around with the high forces of hard cornering. A solid rack clamp can eliminate that problem.
