with the price difference. Invest about a grand to totally upgrade the suspensions with durable shocks (like bilstein or koni) and bushings. Save about a grand for other future wear and tear items. Well maintained 80k miles could give you less trouble than a 40k that's not well maintained. Where a used car can really hurt you is not with several hundred dollar wear items or even pretty unusual fuel pump or alternator. The engine block, transmission, turbo etc. are the ones that can hurt you. The life of these big items directly depend on maintenance not age. Even if both were similarly well maintained I'd pick 80k over 40k because I don't think 40k miles in a Saab that routinely goes over 200k miles is worth extra 3 grand. Maybe Hyundai yes, but not a Saab IMHO. Good luck.
