I've owned a 2000 9-3 standard with auto trans for three years now, and I bought it with 40K miles. Some things to consider.
1. Decide or estimate how many miles a year you are going to drive the car and how long you can reasonably expect to keep it. Then do the math to determine which purchase price will cost you the most (per year) over the estimated life of the car.
2.The 60K service is the big one (tune up, serpentine belt, pulleys, cabin filter, etc.). For the older car make sure it was done. For the newer car get an estimate how much it will cost you.
3. I did not buy my car from a Saab dealer, but a local Saab dealer in Walnut Creek, CA was very helpful before purchase by running my car through their computer to find out if it had a Saab service history. I found that not only was it serviced on time, but also that various recalls had been performed, including one for new heater controls that was quite troublesome. Maybe your local Saab dealer would be as cooperative, especially if they thought you were a potential service customer.
4. My car has proven quite durable and a lot of fun. The only wear items I would be concerned about on the 80K car (aside from brakes, oil leaks and other items that you would check on any car) would be the struts. At 65K the ones on my car are getting a bit to weak.
