Yeah that's why this site can be a curse and a Godsend, both at the same time.
Many times I am astounded by when a DIY person writes about a project he/she just completed, stating that this or that wasn't that big a problem and they encourage others to try it themself.
Knowing what type of complex repair that person have just acomplished tells me that he or she is way more than "just" a DIY wrencher and actually way better than many "professional" mechanics out there.
So yes, sometimes even a minor task can turn into a nightmare both due to lack of the extra little quirky tool needed or a bolt that is just stuck in there a little bit harder than it should.
In your specific case, having the right type of T30 Torx bit, extension and a 1/4" ratchet and being able to give the bolt a better tug right away, might have just been enough cracking it loose.
But now the indy shop is going to have to work a lot harder maybe drilling it out if he can't get an air hammer and a chisel on the side of the bolt head and crack it loose.
Good luck with future wrenching
Anders
