Consider replacing MAF as a preemptive measure

Recently there have been a few posts about Viggen owners having problems when they take their cars to high altitudes, and some people suspect the MAF as the cause of the problems.
Tim R. posted about his problems a few days ago.
A bad MAF (also called AMM) can cause the car to lean out badly. From things I've read here and on other Saab boards, I infer that the problems could be worse at altitude. I'm far from being an expert on engine control. But, even at risk of crying "Wolf!" I'd recommend changing out the MAF as one of the things you do to prepare your car for the trip. They're what, $150 from eEuroparts?
To get some idea of the potential problem, read a few of the earlier posts. Also, Nick Taliaferro posted a while back on the performance board about different dyno results on the same car with different MAFs installed. Look at the A/F ratios on the charts he posted.
I am still running my original MAF at 149,xxx miles, but I live at sea level. If I were going to the mountains, I think I'd change it out. I'll also change it when I do a Nordic software upgrade that will cause more severe conditions.
I hope someone more knowledgeable than me will chime in on this subject.
Best regards,
Dave
