So after going to the shop and talking with the owner it seems that when I pulled out the spark plug I also removed the insert/helicoil, most likely an insert. I have not yet determined why there is a piece of rubber around the top of the insert, maybe I will ask when I return to get the head replaced. I reinserted the insert and spark plug combo back in and restarted the car with the same old problems exisiting. The more I think about the sudden reduction in gas milage I concur with Anders that the Oxygen sensors probably need to be replaced. Looking for the ones that Anders recommended appears to be a problem as no one lists them like that that I can find. I am going to have the head replaced just because I don't like the idea that the insert came out with the plug, I at least know that shouldn't happen. Replacement head should be here today or tomorrow. Wish me luck. Thanks for all the help.
