A Lexus is mechanically a Toyota, but they treat their customers totally different. It's an upscale brand, so you do get upscale service like loaners, washes, etc.
I guess some of the frustration is I was treated about the same as I'd expect from Toyota, Honda, Chevy and Ford. But I expected them to act more like the upscale guys. Saab lowered themselves to compete with Toyotas when they should try to be GM's European Lexus... Also keep in mind that the Viggen was priced in a bracket with the BMW 3-Series, Lexus IS, and Mercedes C-Class. That was the competition, not a Civic, Corolla, or Corsica. They aimed higher back then.
I didn't do the wheel lawsuit because it was frivilous imho. A quick glance told me the wheels were a medium quality painted alloy (they didn't even paint the inboard side of the wheel, just the face). You can also see casting marks.. Not high quality, but then again not every component on the car is either (like the brakes). Mix that with potholes, and they'll bend just like any other medium grade big wheel. I also didn't like the precidence it would set that the manufacturer should anticipate you bashing into potholes and cover it. I just don't like lawsuits that blame someone else for your mistakes.
I'll own up to my mistakes, but I expected Saab to own up to theirs.
