Compliance... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: harsh ride, Todd ![]() |
OG9-s's have stiff initial compliance, that is you feel all the little stuff but it's got plenty of travel over the big stuff. The rear suspension is the primary culprit being a heavy twist beam design that transmit the road shock to both wheels, not truly independent. The intially stiff suspension and the flexing of the roofless chassis can make one wonder at times if everything is bolted together correctly. It's called cowl shake, where the steering wheel and windshield frame sorta' shake, normal for most convertibles.
There is a chassis brace availible on the aftermarket to improve this, but most just sorta' get used to it and then you don't really notice unless your on a fairly rough road
What size wheels and tires do you have? If you have the 205/50-16's you'll gain a slightly better ride with 205/55-16's or a 55 vs a 50 series tire still in the same 205-16. Ever so slightly taller tire is better for the ride. Also check your tire pressures.
