I think the CKP harness connector is still mounted behind coolant thermostat on the 02 9-3.
It is a blue connector with three wires and a red lock clip.
In the very same vicinity is two other connectors which are front and rear oxygen sensor.
What I do when I suspect a bad CKP sensor is to start the car at let it sit idling out in the sun with hood closed. That way I can work on other stuff and just listen for the car to go quite when the heat has built up enough.
When that happens, I quickly disconnect that blue connector and measure resistance over pin 1 and 2 toward sensor and if it is 1000 Ohm or much, much more, I let the car sit with open hood to cool down and the Ohm meter hooked up.
When the value is back down below 1000 Ohm, I hook the harness back up and try to start the car. If it starts, I'm done fault tracing and can replace the sensor.
