I've been reading that using a AC recharge kit DYI is a possibility, so I'm going to give it a shot. I would like to use the a brand with dye to attempt identify the source of the leak. I've read that I definitely don't want to use any R-134a with sealer, but is there anything else to look out for? Any specific brands to use or not use? I want to make sure I will not cause my dealer, indy or service tech not to be afraid of the car after I try use the recharge kit.
I've read that the high pressure A/C hose is the most likely source of the leak, but I also want to check the low pressure schrader valve and the other seals.
One other rookie question, do I have to evaporate the system before using the recharge kit? It seems like all the freon has already leaked out, but I just want to be sure I don't really hose the system - Ha! - get it hose! Ha! Just have to laugh at these 2001 9-3 Saab problems.
Cheers!
