Hi all,

99 viggen with just shy of 50k miles.

I have a failing upper strut mount/bearing on the front passenger side (most likely due to a horrendous pothole I hit on a cleveland highway when it was raining). I'm going to have either the dealership or an indy do the work because I'm in the process of moving and have no time to do the work myself. I'm also considering some other suspension improvements in combination with the replacement in order to combine some of the labor costs. I've been searching previous posts and think I have a pretty good handle on what I should do, but wanted to run it by just in case.

1) Replacement shocks. I've read that the stock shocks are only good for about 55k miles, so I'm thinking now would be the time to replace. Does that sound right? Would the labor only be slightly more to replace the shocks when doing the strut mounts?

Are koni adjustable the best out there? Can I use these in combination with the viggen springs, or should I use either eibachs or konis? I'm moving into a house with a really steep slope from the apron to the driveway, and a steep driveway, and clearance is a close call with the stock springs and shocks. I've heard conflicting statements about the lowering with the different springs - I've heard the eibachs are lower than the viggen springs by 0.5" front and 0.75" rear, but that the actual front of the car is pretty much the same b/c of the different stance. Can anyone confirm the clearance?

2) Poly bushings. I've thought about upgrading the bushings to poly at some point. What kind of mileage is typical for stock bushings? I also assume that the installation would be pretty much unrelated to the shock replacement?
