Subject car is a '00 9-3 with 170K miles. Had the transmission reverse flushed and fluid changed at 166K (second time that was done, correct fluid both times). Within about 30 miles the CEL and the CTL came on, and have subsequently come on about 8 times, and gone off on their own several times. There has never been any transmission performance issue; it has shifted perfectly throughout this time.
The shop that did the service spoke with Saab and reset the codes several times but the problem keep occuring.
The code is P0743, which is a TCC (torque converter clutch) code. The shop says that Saab told them it requires a good solenoid electrical circuit, a good solenoid and a good torque converter for the light not to come on.
I haven't noticed any particular coincidence with temperature or humidity, seems to be totally random.
I'm not terribly concerned that there's any major problem with the transmission as it is performing perfectly and normally. But I would like to figure out what is causing this and repair it.
Anyone have any experience with this?
