I had the same binding problem described on this board. The design of the rear brake, along with the "skinny alloy wheels", allows the pad/caliper to rust quite agressively. Most people won't know it because it is very gradual. You'll just feel that the brakes are "not very good". Some people just replace the while caliper (which is expensive)
What you can do (or have a mechanic do it) is to jack the car up, remove the wheels, take out the calipers, remove the pads, clean out the rusty area that the pads ride on. At that point, you can also confirm if the caliper pistons are working by having someone apply the brakes while you look. Instructions are available on this board (search...) Its a dirty job, but can be done with simple tools in a warm garage.
When everything is clean(you'll probably replace the rear pads while you're in there... its not too expensive), apply anti-seize carefully (don't get it on rotor!) so the pads can move freely... Your brakes will feel great for another year or 2!
