I could not find the definitive answer in my 9-3SS WIS, but I remember my 9-5WIS has a table in it somewhere identifying how many cold-to-operating temp cycles (without a recurrence of the problem) are necessary for the CEL to re-set itself. I remember the value ranged from 8 cycles to 44 cycles for a 9-5 depending on the problem detected.
You can also buy yourself a OBD-II code reader (get one with CAN capability) for as little as $40. Plug it in to the jack above the driver's right knee, then push the "Clear Codes" button to turn-off the CEL. Much cheaper than the $129 the Dealer is requesting to do the sme thing. Or better yet, check with any Gear-Head friends to see if they own one you can borrow for the 15 seconds it will take to clear the codes!
