Hello Fellow SAAB-ers,
My wife's mom has a 2000 model 9-3 (hold the jokes please!! ;-)) It has about 70K miles. She has maintained it perfectly, oil changes every 3,500 miles. On Saturday the engine began running really really rough on the highway, so much so that we were afraid to drive it. White smoke seemes to be weeping up thru the oil filler cap when it is running. I am suspecting a sludge-motor case. We had it towed to our favorite SAAB indy mechanic in raleigh and waiting on the prognosis.
Can anyone out there that has made a sludge motor claim that was honored by Saab tell me what was involved in the process ? I think she has records for most of the oil changes. I may have done one or 2 so we may not have receipts for that, but I may be able to type something up. Will they not honor the sludge motor recall because she changed the oil at 3500 instead of 3000 ?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Unfortunately if she does not get the motor replaced under the recall, I think she may send the car to the land of the Mike Milligan Steam Shovels ! Please help. Thanks !
