Well, I joined the club. Or at least my wife did. She's going to pick up her 2000 9-3 SE convertible (79k miles, midnight blue with tan leather, auto) this afternoon.
I have some questions, however. Thanks in advance for your help here. This is a great board, by the way.
1.\ What octane gas should we be running in the 4-cyl. turbo? 91?
2.\ How often should the oil be changed using full synthetic and what brand/weight do you all recommended?
3.\ I am going to be taking the car to an independent Saab specialist for maintenance. What should I have done now? Coolant flush, trans. fluid flush, differtial fluid change, brake fluid flush, spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter? What do you all recommend? Is there a resource on the Web where I can see the full maint. schedule? Also, is there a shop manual you'd recommend, like a Chelton's or Bentley?
4.\ What's the deal with engine sludge? The dealer said the car had the engine replaced at ~55k miles because of engine sludge. He said it was because Saab used a synthetic blend and not full synthetic oil. My question is, will this problem resurface in the future or has there been a redesign that solved the issue?
5.\ Anything else I should no about this car? I'm looking forward to owning a Saab, just want to make sure I'm prepared.
