There should be a Haynes manual coming out for the 9-3this year (released in England at least) but there is a NG900 already available that's pretty close mechanically. Your 2000 has T-7 engine management so th eNG900 won't cover that.
Many here use Mobil1 0W40. One of the few oils to meet Saabs requirements.
I'm doing 5K changes, I'm finding increased wear at 5K, will drop to 4K or so. A 7K change showed very elevated wear #'s. My engine is a bit more mature however, that's just my data points.
Make sure the PCV system functions and is upto date. Generally sludge can be
avoided by keeping quality synth, and keeping it up to date. Consider used oil analysis on occasion, I think it's $20 well spent.
Look after the upper idler pulley, it goes dry and serp belt goes with it.
Water pump runs of that belt so that's a show stopper.
I run 93 octane. You can run regular I believe, but the Trionic engine management will do more with higher octane, this is one of the few cars that will not only perform better but you may see improved MPG's negating the low% extra cost of premium.
It might take a little while for the Mrs to find the loud peddle, wait till she finds the 'S'coot button.
hope the 9-3 works out well, you sound like a bit of a car person.
Welcome!
