Help with the infinite oil leak. crank seal

Ok. I've been fighting an oil leak on my 2000 9-3 since I got it 3 years ago. The main crank seal behind the balancer pulley will not seal. I have replaced the seal twice before finally replacing the whole balancer/pulley and seal. The old balancer appeared to be seal worn and so the hope was that an entire new seal and pulley would stop it. Well it did, but now 10 months and 10,000 miles later the seal is leaking like a sieve. I pulled the pulley today and it appears seal worn and a putting on a new seal hasn't stopped it but slowed it. There doesn't seem to be any abrasion in the oil and the area around the shaft is clean except for oil.
Ok, what gives? have any of you else had this much trouble with this seal? I fear the worse in that there is some major internal problem causing this. The engine runs nice and smooth. No exessive vibration or noise. Everything seems normal except for this adnormal wear.
Any thoughts???
