Your attorneys are correct. The long shot comse after you take the car to an independent Saab mechanic for inspection. Perhaps the actual cause of the burned pistons could be determined. That would be a factual answer. That is, you hope that you get demonstrable facts for the cause. Wrong spark plugs installed, perhaps, e.g. Or, some wrong adjustment in timing, which could well be a computer issue. Computer settings should be looked at independently of the dealer where there is the possibility that any errors could have been corrected.

If, and only if, you have demonstrable facts of poor service which is in turn is causally related to the damage to the three pistons, then you might have a viable claim against the service provider. For going against Saab, there would have to be some defect in your engine production or design, and even then you have a five year, 50,000 mile warranty problem to overcome.

Way, totally off the mark. I once burned a Saab piston, but in a three cylinder, two cycle engine, when I was in college. The responsible person was me The cause, cheaping out on the kind of oil used to mix with the gas. But, that was a relative inexpensive fix since I could take a bus ride with the crank in a back pack to a specialty shop for repair.

My guess is that you are better off spending your energy finding a used engine or figuring out if the block itself is usable for repairing what you have. A vert is probably worth the investment.

Just my two cents. DER
