I am afraid that I will have to go the same route, I doubt there is any sludge in this engine and I am just waiting for final word from Saab... But: I will request a letter from Saab with the reason for refusing assistance (if they refuse again), so that I can take that and documentation that I collected to Small Claims Court. Also: BBB is most helpful in getting Saab to respond - Saab already said no once, but when I opened a case with BBB, Saab had to look at this again. I appreciate the information that the 'blow-up' is not that unusual - maybe it will force Saab to change the servicing schedule and the thing that are checked during service. I have the impression that GM knows more about this problem since my case is certainly not unique.
I agree with you that this is a very enjoyable car to drive, this is why I bought it in the first place. This and the fact that some Saabs run with 400,000 miles on them. I am afraid that GM is damaging the Saab brand by sub-par customer service when their customer runs into problems. I cannot say a bad word about the dealer where I serviced the car. But: GM needs to decide if Saab is a luxury car and have appropriate customer service and relations. Otherwise the whole 'born from jets' campaing is junk. This will hit GM (probably it did already).
