Bent wheels on a Viggen

I own an '02 Viggen. Great car, and I love the turbo. But I am having significant difficulty with blown tires and bent wheels. As it stands now, I have 4 new all season Michelins, three severely bent wheels, and a noise that sounds like a ball bearing coming from the one wheel assembly that is not bent. Which option should I choose?
1. Get three new 17" Saab wheels and try to avoid the potholes.
2. Buy four all new 17" wheels from an on-line catalogue or at the tire dealer's suggestion.
3. Replace all four tires and all four wheels with a 16" model or some other, more normal size.
#3 means, of course, that my new Michelins go to waste, but, of course, sunk costs -- once sunk -- remain sunk, so this is not necessarily the wrong choice.
I am no expert, but I see BMWs and other cars all over the place that have 17" or 18" wheels. Do those cars have this problem? What is the experience of other Viggen owners?
Thanks, in advance, for your thoughts.
