Could shop have damaged something w. torch to tierods?

Hey guys,
As I posted below, I got new tires but couldnt get an alignment as the tire shop said my tie-rods were frozen. I saw them try to use a blow torch to loosen them up, but they still couldn't move them. Today was my first day doing any significant driving since. My front end feels loose, something is definitely up. I did get tires with softer sidewalls (ContiExtremeContacts(, BUT, I previously still had my winter tires on, and the front end felt more solid. Over bumps I get reverbations in the steering instead of one solid thump. Feels sort of how it would feel with failing front shocks or really work bushings. Could they have messed anything up? I looked at the suspension, and I see some white marks where I guess they used to torch. I did drive the car maybe 10 minutes after they torched it....could stuff have still been hot and thus weakned, and then driving damaged something? The car does still need an alignment, but I can't see how it could be any worse aligned than it was before they touched it.
Any ideas or help? Soonest I can get to my SAAB mechanic is friday. I'm going to be quite mad of those guys messed my car up.
thanks,
Alex
