I recently picked up a 1999 9-3 to replace my rusted out 87 900T. The battery will slowly drain over the course of 2 days to the point that it is completely dead. I have checked the following things.
1) The trunk light (I made sure it wasn't an issue by removing the bulb)
2) I took the battery to the autoparts store after charging it and they tested it on the load machine (tested out OK, battery is about 3 months old)
3) Battery voltage is approx 12.9V off, 13.8V running (Alternator seems to be working ok)
4) After running the car for a couple minutes, I shut off the car, then hook up a multimeter, and without interrupting the battery from the circuit (place leads on battery and terminal, then remove batt cable, keeping DMM lead on battery post), I see about a 0.5A drain. It will go to about 0.25A if I then pull the #35 fuse (twice/dice/interior lights, etc)
5) If I do the same as noted above, but unhook the battery for a second (take off leads and reconnect in series to meter), the current draw will show about 0.15A then drop to about 0.10A and stay there.
6) Tests 4 and 5 repeated with radio removed (same results)(see below)
Also, when I got the car the radio worked, now it will not, maybe because of pulling fuses, etc? It doesn't show anything on the SID, just wont work at all. The radio isn't the top priority, I just want to get the battery drain fixed.
Anyone have any other common culprits to check for the battery drain? I'm wondering if there might be some problem with the TWICE or DICE units? I tried pulling some other various fuses (AC, fuel pump, etc) and they didn't seem to make any difference. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
