It might be worth checking with your insurance agent regarding your deductible. In Washington there is a thing called umpd or uninsured motorist property damage that will lower your deductible in the case of a hit and run. Here, it is a $300 ded if the person who hit your car is unknown--the only requirement is that the insurance company will request that you file a police report.
I don't know if there is such a thing in your state, but it can't hurt to check it out. I used to handle insurance claims and many people did not know that they had this coverage until I told them about it.
