I did this a few months ago. Once you get the hole cut, you will need to remove the rigid plastic gas supply and return hoses from the top of the pump. Spray some WD-40 into the hose sockets before you begin. Each elbow is held by plastic tab. They are btittle, so don't bend to much. You will need to wiggle the elbows side-to-side as you hold the tab back and pull the elbow up. They come up about 1/4" before they come out. Then you will need to unscrew the plastic ring. I used the handles of a large pair of water pump pliers. I used a small pair of vise grips to hold the handles at the proper width. Then I used a length of pipe for leverage. Mine took quite a bit of force to loosten the ring. I can't imaging doing that with the tank out of the car. Before you pull the pump, wipe the area so that nothing falls into the tank. You will need to lift and rotate the pump assemply roughly 180 degrees counter clockwise to remove it from the tank. To dissasseble the pump assembly, you will need to pry open 4 tabs. Do one at a time and block open with small screwdrivers. The pump I used came from NAPA and came with a length of 1/4" fuel injection hose. Cut the old hose aff at the tee with a sharp Xacto knife and use the rubber FI hose. I used FI hose clamps rather than the regular clamps that came with the pump. Resaaembly is the reverse. After I got the hole cut it took about 2 hours to complete the job. I bought a piece of sheet metal at the hardware store and some sheet metal screws. I ground down the ends of the screws so that they would not pumcture the plastic tank in case of rear end collision.. Good luck... Ron
