Anders:

In the last post I mentioned it seemed that the motor had snapped back out of position again as the top began to operate (as tho the emergency lever had activated).

But when I inspected it, it appeared to be fine. So I again pulled the emergency lever, disengaged the motor, and reversed the steps to see if it would resynchronize and work.

This is what is happening now:

STARTING POSITION: The top is just short of being fully closed. The bow with the rear window is a few inches short of the fully closed position where it would latch.

WHEN ATTEMPTING TO OPEN THE TOP: the first bow action (with the rear window) moves all the way forward as it should, but then the tonneau either does not react (no motor sounds) or I can hear it grinding. Without taking the motor out I inspected the gear with a mirror and it appears to have all its teeth and in fine shape as far as I can see. It might be possible I did not engage the motor in the right position but I don't think it would have snapped fully back into place, no?

WHEN ATTEMPTING TO CLOSE THE TOP: the starting position of the bow with the rear window is now fully forward and will only return to partial closed position (about half way) and it stops. Another attempt will get it to go a bit further (about 4/5 closed) but it still stops short of closed.

I'll let it rest and see if cycling it tomorrow will help reset the systems and will let you know. In the meantime I appreciate your help. If it still is not functioning correctly, what next step would you recommend?

Altho it was a bit of a learning curve, I installed the reinforcement kit and so can remove the motor and the bracket again if necessary.
