When my MAF went bad it was preceded by several CEL's for "too lean" and I was having low boost problems. If you boosting properly (just below red) you can assume you have no probs with BPC BPV etc. and I'd suspect your MAF might not be the problem. Pinging, I would think, would be related to fuel quality. I could be wrong but before I replaced the MAF I'd make sure I have a clean TB and run some techron concentrate on a tank of good brand name high test and see if that helps. I guess my point is I wouldnt assume its the MAF until you've elimnated any plug or fuel quality issues. Good luck.
