I'll echo what you've been told in the other thread.
Yes, the slave is located inside the bellhousing of the tranny. IF your slave is bad, the tranny has to be removed. Plenty $$$ for labor.
Replacing the clutch itself should be relatively easy once the tranny is removed. So it would be silly to put it back with the old clutch disk & etc. OTOH, don't let him charge you double for the same labor (R&R of transmission).
So like Anders said, you (& your dealer mechanic) need to rule out all the external possibilities. It's possible that simply bleeding the fluid (removing all air bubbles) will fix it. Or not. But I'd spend some time trying to be sure before removing the tranny.
