This all depends on the strength and integrity of the hitch. I just pulled a 2" U-Haul receiver hitch off my '87 Chevy 1/2 ton pickup that's on the way to the junkyard. The passenger side was nearly rusted in half. If I had used it, something very bad would have happened. This was all due to rusting from salt on Ohio highways. If in doubt, check it out first... Ron
