In order to drop the oil pan, the sub frame needs to be dropped first. Expect around 3 hours labor to drop it and replace it. Swedecar has a picture of a coat hanger tool that might be used to test for sludge in the oil pan. But don't forget the main problem with sludge is that it covers the oil pump screen and eventually shuts off the oil supply to the engine. You might also check out Andrews of Princeton Saab site. It has some good articles on sludge and how to deal with it. A better test might be to have a oil pressure reading done by an Indy... Ron
