My friend put a MBC on my 1999 9-3 turbo last year and when I accelerate quickly, I hit the fuel cut-off. I am not able to turn it down myself (it's really tight, I tried) and so took it to the garage when I was getting other work done and asked them to turn it down. They didn't, but took it out for a drive and said that the clutch is slipping in 2-5th gears and that I have a month left on the clutch.
I talked to my friend who put it on (who lives across the continent) and he said that the MBC can make it seem like the clutch is slipping, and that I should take it off. I have the installation instructions but that doesn't help me uninstall it (nor does my Haynes Manual). I can't figure out where to put the two hoses that are attached to the ends of the MBC. I see that there is a small red hose from the elbow barb of the MBC, connected to what i THINK is the inlet air duct? where do i connect that hose once the mbc is off? Also, on the pointy barb end of the mbc there's a silver hose...and i don't see where that goes to or what that connects to.
My brother, a diesel mechanic, told me that to test the clutch I should quickly go from 1-5, through all the gears, and see that the car speed matches with the revs, to test the slipping clutch. I did that (with the MBC on obviously) and the car seemed to be as normal.
I guess my questions are:
1) Can someone help me figure out where the hoses go after I take off the MBC?
2) Is the clutch really affected by the MBC, and would I expect a new clutch at 105000 miles? Do I really need to spend 1400$ right now? I just replaced my serp belt and pullies, tires, and am feeling quite broke...
Any help would be really appreciated.
Thank you.
