I don't think the Main instrument unit 1 (without digital odometer, which is what Alldata refers to) was installed in US cars. They all came with MIU 2.
It is not much to see or check but you have to lift off the rear unit which is the micro processor and see if any leads or traces on the circuit boards are bad.
Other than that, it is mostly a matter of using the Tech 2 to confirm certain operations and signals.
What you do is to look for fault code B1715 in MIU which would indicate that the ICE is not sending a signal to MIU.
If that code is not present, it is either the rear unit on MIU or the gauge cluster unit which has its own circuit board.
If the code is present in MIU you go to ICE and check for if code B1311 is present there.
