Okay I did plenty of checking an from what I can tell it is a blended synthetic that is supposed to be in the transmission. I gave Walter Wong a call and he indicated it should be the new synthetic replacement which is filled and flushed once then filled again. He said the tranny has week synchros and won't last with regular oil. I took his advice and changed it at a price tag of 3 bottles of the new formula at 25 per bottle. They said they didn't have the GM equivalent as sold on elk parts (not sure if the same or not).
I changed the tranny fluid to synthetic, added a quart of synthetic 5-20 oil to my 20-50 change and filled the tires to 40 lbs. My mileage went from 27 to 35 on the highway at 70 mph. I'm not sure what did it but it is running good. Thanks to Walter and all posters for their help. I'll be driving the car into Mexico next week and it just passed 200k.
