I have had Genuine Saab and ScanTech

I have a 2000 base model 9-3 and I have used the ScanTech and the Genuine Saab kit (both purchased from Eeuroparts.com).
I replaced the original pulley at about 48k miles. It still felt pretty good when I spun it ... it was viscous and didn't make any noise. But I replaced it anyway with a ScanTech.
I just replaced teh ScanTech at 98k miles. At roughly the same mileage, the ScanTech didn't feel or sound nearly as good as the original one had. It spun freely and sounded crunchy. I think it was about done.
I replaced that ScanTech with a Genuine Saab pulley, which I'm hoping is the same quality as the one that originally came with the car.
My experience is that the ScanTech ones don't seem to be as good in quality ans the one that originally came with the car.
I don't see the value in getting a metal pulley if it is the bearings that fail. Maybe I'm just not getting it.
