I did my inner & outer last fall, expect some drama getting the ends out of the strut mount. I used a ball joint seperator, I suspect a Pittman puller might have been a little better (see Dimitri's site for some pics).
(I might have the names confused)
Harbor Freight has a cheapo (<$20 and and a bargin at half the price) alignment tool.
Either way $1000 is outrageous, find an indy, I suspect you could a quality result for about half that.
