Here is my dilemma...the antenna from eEuroparts came today and I thought that this would be a quick fix, but now it is not looking so easy. After removing the retaining nut I pulled out the old antenna and there was about 4" of the nylon guide left on the end. After fussing for a while to figure out just the right direction for the teeth to face I managed to get it to thread, but it only took about 3/4 of the length and I am not sure whether it is hitting something (the old guide?) or there is another problem. Plus, the base section of the new antenna seems to be a bit too large to fit into the hole, so I don't see how this is going to be flush.
Do I need to access the antenna motor itself to see what is going on? If so, how much labor is involved in removing the trunk liner? There appear to be a number of bolts and I was somewhat expecting an access panel.
I give myself a 2 (out of a 5) on the DIY scale...should I take this to my indy shop and see what they can do?
BTW, my car is a 2001 9-3.
