Another thing I forgot to mention - low boost?

I am not blown away by the turbo boost, it feels really flat.
This is the first T7 car that I've owned and I know that they tweeked it to fix the turbo lag, but I can feel more boost out of a 9-3SS Linear which I would assume would be smoother. Also, I was also looking at an auto when I was looking at this car. In the auto I could feel the boost come on, and really come on in sport mode.
I can't get it to boost out of mid-yellow and can't get it to boost into yellow in first gear, but I've been told this is normal. The car feels adequately powerful, but it doesn't have that kick in the pants feeling from the T-5 cars that I've driven.
The turbo is queit, the car is queit and smooth - I just don't feel the boost. Is this normal? A sign of a bad turbo or a sludge filled engine?
Thanks again for your input.
