I finally got around to it. NONE of the headbolts were "loose" AT ALL. Before starting I checked each and every single one, and they were all quite tight. I didn't even feel there was a need to do this...but I started anyway. I replaced them all one by one, and they were all pretty difficult to get loose believe it or not. I felt like I would be "disturbing" its state (the head, headgasket...things just seemed to be right...) by doing anything...but from what I've read, this is preventative and not much can go wrong. I went back after and did the 90 degree extra turn, but in fact I actually did a bit more...like 95-100 degrees. Once that was done, I went back to every bolt in the sequence and gave it a couple of degrees just to make sure everything was well tight. Car's been running smoothly, someone please tell me I did everything right and nothing will go wrong...(I'm not a mechanic, just a handy guy) I put everything back together, and the car runs fine no problem. I will check for leaks but I don't think there should be any. Valve cover was a PITA to put back, so I ended up using a tiny bit of gasket sealer to have it stick, as oil did not do...had no choice.

I've posted some links here to the pictures of the inside. I think it's clean, however there was some black stuff (very fine) that looked like a bit of burnt oil, near the timing chain. I think this might be ok. I did notice the old bolts were grey in colour, whereas the new ones I put in were bronze in colour.

This is my first time doing anything this "big"...so I am pretty content I'd say. Your comments are a big help to me! I really appreciate it as always....kind of a long post, but who else am I gonna ask.
