I recently purchased my second Saab, an '01 5-door Viggen, and I'd like to put the car up on four stands to bleed the brakes, but can't see a straightforward way to do this.
I'm used to (with my miata) picking a halfway jacking point on one side of the car, lifting that whole side up and inserting a front and rear jackstand at each jacking point, then repeat on other side. :)
With the Viggen's body kit I don't see a way to do this. I have had the front in the air (with two jacks) and was able to put a couple of stands under the suspension mounting points (while I changed the oil) just in case the jacks gave way, but I wouldn't fancy lowering the car onto these spots. It also seemed there weren't many choices of support points.
I have already made some wooden blocks so that I can use the normal jacking points with my low profile hydraulic jack, and not crush the jacking "lip".
So, any safe jackstand / jacking combinations would be appreciated so I can get the car up on four stands. Thanks in advance.
BTW, when I found "my" viggen, I had never heard of the model. I have a '99 9-5 SE and had thought that I'd like an Aero one day, then stumbled across a motivated Viggen seller. WOW. This is a fun car. I've read quite a few of the performance mod posts here and have some mild plans (stage 2 nordic, I think) for even more oomph, and hope eventually to contribute usefully to the board here.
Final BTW, has anyone autocrossed their Viggen? It looks like SCCA classes it in G-Stock. For "Street Touring" purposes, does anyone know if it is in STS (I wish!), or is it classed higher? I know it wouldn't be competitive (that's what the miata is for) but it could be a blast at a local event and would let me learn its' limits safely.
Thanks All.
