I've also wondered about this and was going to give up and build some ramps.
I've done the jacking on one side thing and it sure twists the chassis, so much so that I didn't go high enough for jack stands in the rear. I can't see how this cannot damage the car as it seems rather extreme?
I'm not sure what that front jacking point that you speak of is....perhaps not on the 9.3 or at least not on the Viggen???
