The bronze bushing is already installed but the aluminum housing is manufactured a little bit wrong so that the bushing sinks in too far and doesn't support the tapered end of the toothed motor shaft when the two halves are locked together.
I tap the bushing out and install either two regular 8mm flat washers or one 8mm exhaust manifold flat washer between the aluminum housing and the bushing.
That way, the bushing is moved closer to the motor shaft and supports it better for the extreme torque forces when the tonneau cover is operated, forces that also makes the aluminum housing tweak and get out of alignment without the reinforcement kit.
