Steven -
I think you are describing what is broken. The part that "popped off" is located in the engine compartment right behind the firewall and seems to connect some shifter linkage to the transmission. It is essentially a plastic piece about 3" long that connects the two sections. I was hoping the plastic piece itself could just be replaced but it sounds like you are saying the answer is no.
I am not averse to DIY (and have had much success with my 9-5 replacing things like the ABS module, wiper rack, blower motor, etc...Thanks to all the help of Saabnet!). Are there any sites that provide more details of the repair? How long did it take you and did you require any specialized tools?
Thanks
