Arky, I don't quite understand why you have had to go as far as you have. If you don't have one, I strongly suggest you get a Haynes manual for the car. This will help you better understand the design of the systems in the car. Ripping the car apart, in my opinion, is a recipe for disaster.
I work on my car in order to ensure confidence that the car is in tip top shape. Doing so gives me greater understand of the car so I can head-off problems before they surprise me. I would hate to work on my car and end up in the position you're in. I would suggest that you take a deep breath and ask yourself what is the end result you seek as you attack areas of the engine. e.g: Did you really need to replace the FPR to solve your idling problem? Probably not.
While big thing in a car can and do fail. Often, its the little things. I have own 5 Saab and I have worked all. Using the approach I have describe to you, I have had little problems and wonderful ownership experience with all. But you need the manual and you need to study the systems.
