That hasn't been my experience. I have now owned 5 Saabs; an 82 900T, 88 9000, 94 9000CSE, 97 9000 Anniversary, and a 01 Viggen. All had substantial miles when bought used (two of them were bought from Saabnet classifieds), and of these, only the 88 9000 had significant repairs. I drove the 82 900T for three years with the only repair being a cracked distributor cap, and I bought the Anniversary at 140,000 and drove it for two years with only a fog light to replace and the washer bottle hose having come loose. Sure, parts may be a little more expensive than with some cars, but all in all, my experience is that they are excellent cars. Of course they have the reputation for being a little quirky, but that's added value for a lot of Saab owners.
