Sounds like you have repairs done at a rip off dealer. Alternator: $200 (rebuilt); Battery $80; Tensioner $53., these are all very easy DIY items. The things you mention are mostly wear items that just wear out. I have a 1995 900S vert, that has 165,000 miles. I have a complete record of every oil change, new tires, all maintenance, the total cost of everything including some major repairs like a new clutch, new struts, etc has been under $15000, this includes everything such as synthetic oil every 3000 mi, snow tires (2 sets) 16" rim upgrades; wood dash, cd changer, trailer hitch. So, I'm happy with a car that has been long paid off, runs like a charm.
Now, however GM is going to sell Saab to Tata of India, let's see what happens in the future with Tata owning both Saab and Volvo.
