Take out the glove compartment, pull the duct off of the vent from behind, and then you can just reach in and squeeze the clips that hold the vent in. It will come right out. While it's out, you might consider putting a thin film of silicone grease on the back of the sliding parts. It makes it work much more smoothly and keeps it from sticking some day.
