vibration under load- not in steering wheel

Last week I put the old 1999 9-3 SE (125k miles) up on the ramp for an oil change. Switching over to the recommended 0w-40 (the engine seems to like this switch quite a bit.)
A day or two later I started getting a fairly heavy vibration which was/is strongest when accelerating in 3rd gear, between 2k-3k rpms. The vibration does not shake the steering wheel at all, though.
I went looking around and noticed that I have a bad lower control arm bushing and the sway bar is pretty much resting/rubbing on the control arm. The sway bar actually looks like it has a crack in the upper portion of the part which rides over the control arm.
So, I'll be fixing the control arm/sway bar issue. But what I'm wondering is if this problem could be causing the vibration-under-load issue. Could this be something else as well? What should I look for?
