As the other posters noted, you need to have a backup. If you lock the car with the remote, you need to unlock it with a remote. The locking process locks the ECU so that the car can't be stolen. However, if you loose the remote while it's in a locked state (or damage it beyond repair), no one, including a dealer, can unlock it. You need a new computer ($1400?). This is an anti-theft feature to prevent Saabs fom being stolen by thieves with code scanners and computer reset devices. No one, outside the factory, can unlock that computer.
So, if you buy one, buy two! You do need to have a mechanic with a Tech II program them in.
