I was thinking of making the 3" airbox mod for my '97 900S NA. I ran across some 2', 3" galvanized duct work at Lowe's. I was thinking of using this with a 4" to 3" reducer. Has anyone done this mod w/ duct work? My other option is to buy 3" Schedule 20 PVC with a bell end.
For the duct version I was thinking of JB Weld to for the reducer and then JB Weld for the outside of the airbox and RTV sealant on the inside of the airbox.
I'll take any thoughts on which is best? Would the metal get too warm from the surrounding engine vs the insulating capabilities of PVC. I assume both would fail in an accident and not become problematic to occupants.
