I haven't heard of good explanation for this. So far just lots of observations of increasing oil consumption after PCV6. My engine used to lose about a quart between 5k mi oil change. A leak from valve cover that's not really serious and some getting past the piston and burning I guess. I believe I read somewhere losing 1 qt over 3k mi is considered within manufacturer's spec. In rough estimate, now i'm losing 1 qt every 2k-2.5k mi. About twice as fast as before. Problem is most people doing PCV6 are unaware of this and they start to hear ticking noise and there's a lot of speculation from the boards wasting more time while ticking. As in the guy's experience with busted engine (broken piston) for low oil, it doesn't take long to break something inside engine once ticking noise gets loud enough to be heard.
